Diaphonization is the chemical process of staining the bones and cartilaginous tissues then rendering the flesh transparent so as to provide a non-invasive means of studying the anatomy and osteology of a specimen. Modern protocols were introduced and perfected by scientists in the 70’s, but the concept dates back over 100 years.
