Description
Economy sheep brain (cerebrum).
All brains start at the highest level possible. They are not intentionally altered to create the lower levels.
The econ brain could be missing any or all of the cerebellum, stem, and nerves.
An Economy brain may still have dura, hypo, nerves, or other structures intact. Economy designation does not mean that the dura or any other specific structure has been intentionally removed.
If your laboratory exercise requires a specific anatomical condition, such as brains with the dura removed. Please contact us before ordering so we can help you select the appropriate specimen.

I ordered 70 economy sheep brains for an introductory psychology course. Delivery took 1 month. I was sent 70 sheep brains with dura and since I could not be confident in Biology Products to replace the order on time, we had to remove the dura from 70 brains in order for them to be appropriate for the lab exercise we scheduled. I will not order from Biological Products again. Nebraska Scientific is a more reliable company.

We do want to clarify an important distinction regarding our sheep brain grading system. Our brains are extracted with the goal of obtaining the highest anatomical level possible and are then graded based on their condition. Our Economy level does not mean that the dura has been removed. An Economy brain may still have the dura, hypo, nerves, or other structures intact. Economy specimens can have varying degrees of damage or missing anatomy and are not guaranteed to have any particular structure present or absent.
If a lab exercise specifically requires the dura to be removed that requirement should be communicated when ordering so we can help determine the appropriate specimen for the exercise.
We recognize that our product description could have made this grading system clearer, and we are working to make that distinction much more obvious for customers.
We regret that the specimens required additional preparation for your particular lab and appreciate the feedback.
First off they took a very long time to be delivered. Then, many were missing parts of their cerebellum. About 3 were mushy and rotten, The ones that were good, were great.
The brain came in perfectly wrapped and preserved. Minimal solution and odor. I will be ordering more in the future from this same batch.
The price is good for these brains but some came without anything except the cerebrum which was mangled with some with chunks missing. This means some students do not get a good speciman to dissect. Some had everything attached which was great. I just wish that the rest were all of the same quality.
I have ordered from this company for several years and have normally been pleased with the preserved specimens but not this time. The sheep brains came vacuumed pack per usual and I really couldn’t tell anything was different about them until I started passing them out to the students. Cerebellums we’re barely hanging on or totally missing and was very difficult to distinguish the medulla oblongata and the pons. The parts of the cerebrum was not much better with optic nerves mostly missing and it being very much mush on the inside.
