I have been ordering from Biology Products for specimens for a few years now. I’ve been consistently pleased with the product. However, it seems that each order takes longer and longer to fill. This fall, I placed an order 4 weeks before I needed the specimens, knowing that I had a few left over from last year to get me by in case they were delayed a bit longer than that. However, my order took 8 full weeks to ship. I had a similar experience last spring, where it took nearly 2 months for my order to ship. This is frustrating, but not as frustrating as the lack of communication around the timeline.
I understand that products can be limited and are not always in stock. It would be helpful to have an indicator online that shows if a specific product is currently on back order or expected to take longer than a week before being ready to ship out. Similarly, when a timeline is much longer than anticipated, I would expect to receive an email notification with the expected timeline so that I could restructure my team’s curriculum if needed.
I ordered 2 and was very surprised at the size of them. Approx two ft each. They are packaged partially dissected, fins clipped, but not cut off, tail severed but included in the packing with the shark. Both jaws were broken on one side. Not sure if that's some sort of protocol. Don't think I would purchase again, how the shark(s) were processed for packing was not suitable for my needs. More details on specimen size and packing in the catalog description would have been helpful.
I ordered these last minute and the company was very accomodating, received within a couple days. Big sharks and perfect for what we look at in a high school lab setting. Highly recommend. Great price too!
The product was an entire full sized shark which was giant. It’s a good specimen for such a great price. Only thing was it’s tail was sliced and red dyed at the end but that is probably why it’s an economy shark.
These sharks were great. The students loved them.
